When it comes to helping your customers find the right size, the app offers three different types of recommenders. Here’s a brief overview of each one to help you decide which is best for your store.
What is a Size Recommender?
A Size Recommender is an enhanced way to help customers determine their correct size. Traditional size charts can be confusing and difficult to use, especially if you sell products from various vendors. The Size Recommender solves this by asking customers to input their measurements once, and then automatically suggesting the best size for each product using that information. This helps remove friction from the shopping experience and improves conversion rates.
1. Advanced Apparel Recommender:
What is it?
The Advanced Apparel Recommender estimates a customer's body size based on basic information like age, weight, and height, and uses this to recommend the best apparel size.
Requirements:
- Works only for adult apparel (Men & Women).
- Requires a sizing table with canonical measurement linking.
- You need to set up product info (e.g., product type, age, gender).
Pros:
- Low to no friction! Not everyone knows what their chest or waist measurements are but almost everyone knows how tall and heavy they are. This type of recommendation will have the lowest drop-out rate which will ultimately improve your conversion.
Cons:
- Currently offered only in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese
- Doesn’t work for certain categories like pet, toddler, and maternity clothing.
- Requires more detailed setup (canonical measurements and product info).
2. Simple Generic Table Apparel Recommender:
What is it?
This recommender asks customers to input body measurements like chest, waist, or hips and then suggests the best size based on those inputs.
Requirements:
- Works only for apparel-based products (not for shoes).
- Needs a sizing table.
Pros:
- Can be used for any apparel product that has a sizing table.
Cons:
-
Higher friction: Not everyone knows their exact body measurements, which may cause drop-offs in user engagement.
3. Custom Recommender
What is it?
The Custom Recommender is fully programmable, allowing you to design your own recommendation logic. This makes it ideal for specific products like bras or items with complex sizing requirements.
Requirements:
- You need to know the exact logic for the recommendation process.
Pros:
- Highly flexible: You have complete control over the logic and can request any type of input from users.
- Can be used for purposes beyond size recommendations.
Cons:
- Requires more time and effort to set up.
- There is a learning curve to understand how to build and configure the logic.
