What is the Advanced Apparel Recommender?
The Advanced Apparel Recommender allows users to input basic information (e.g., age, weight, height) and estimate their body size, offering tailored apparel size recommendations. This tool provides a smoother experience compared to the Simple Generic Table Apparel Recommender, which requires direct input of body measurements.
Here's a video guide on how to set up the Advanced Apparel Recommender:

- If you have multiple size charts, choose the table you want to use for the recommender.
-
Set Up Product Information
- Go to the "Product & Fields Setup" tab, click "Set up product info," and select the most appropriate clothing category for your size chart.

- Other configuration options will appear as well.
- Go to the "Product & Fields Setup" tab, click "Set up product info," and select the most appropriate clothing category for your size chart.
-
Select Measurement Fields
- Under "Select fields for the Recommender," choose the measurements you want to use.
- For tops, the bust is required; for bottoms, the waist is required. A green highlight indicates the measurement is selected.
- You may see an error message indicating that canonical measurement linking is not set up yet. This will be addressed in the next step.
-
Field Canonical Measurement Linking
- Set up canonical measurement linking so the recommender can accurately recognize fields like bust and waist.
- Since table cells may have any text or language, explicit linking is necessary to clarify which measurement field represents what.
- Click on the button to open the selector.
- Be cautious when choosing between Product measurements and Body measurements. If measurements are taken directly from the clothing, select Product measurements. For product measurements, the recommender will account for easing based on the product category. Body measurements won’t include easing.
-
Field Recommend Settings
- Once canonical measurement linking is set up, more options will appear.
- Depending on the field type, different settings will be available:
- Cover types (e.g., chest, waist, hip): Customize the stretch factor (default is 10%) and easing for product measurements.
- Length types (e.g., shirt length, sleeve, inseam): Provide an ideal length reference point and an acceptable range from that point.
- Once canonical measurement linking is set up, more options will appear.
That’s it! Your Advanced Apparel Recommender is now set up. Additional customization options, like recommender language and flow, are available in the Settings tab.
Common FAQs
I input my info, but no sizes are recommended. What’s wrong?
- This issue often results from incorrect canonical measurement setups. For example, choosing half product circumference for the chest when the table uses full chest circumference.
The recommender’s results are not accurate. How can I adjust them?
- Refer to Step 5. Adjust the easing or stretch factor to better align the recommender’s output with your product’s fit.
The recommender suggests a larger pant size than I usually wear. Why?
- This could be due to vanity sizing. Always input the actual waist measurement of the pants, rather than the label size. Many brands label pants with smaller sizes than their actual measurements.
